Shooting Ground
About the Ground
In 1987 Pauline and I started the shooting ground at South Worcester with the aim of providing quality clay shooting for everyone.
You don't have to be a member to shoot here.
In the 36 years since we started we have grown every year, moving from 10 manual traps in the beginning to a fully automated
ground with more than 50 traps we have today.
You will find more stands, more variety of targets and no work to do yourself.
We haven't forgotten our roots so on a Sunday you have the choice of 60, 80 or 100 sporting targets, with something for everyone.
In addition we have the compak and D.T.L. layouts.
The private tuition field is a facility that no one else in the area matches and remains very popular with newcomers, encouraged by our enthusiastic instructors.
So why do so many people keep coming back to South Worcester after all these years?
We like to think of ourselves as 'The Friendly Ground'.
We try to put on 'interesting' targets, suitable for a wide range of abilities.
We change a significant number of the traps for every shoot, to create plenty of variety and new challenges.
We have the awesome high towers. The 60 foot tower has 4 traps simulating a wide variety of game birds, the 75 hydraulic platform has one powerful trap which can cover several stands, while the 110 foot crane has 2 traps throwing some seriously high 'driven pheasant' targets.
Come and see for yourself, I am sure you will be impressed.
Disabled Access
The shooting ground is on level fields with gravel paths to the stands. All the shooting stands, except one, are easily accessible by wheel chair users. The main reception is also easily accessible. The toilets and second port-a-cabin are up two steps.
